Info

Marble is a metamorphic rock, formed when sedimentary rock (limestone, sandstone) is subject to pressure and heat under the earth’s surface.

Marble is therefore softer than Granite and is less suitable for work surfaces as it is liable to scratch and stain easier than Granite. Marble also tends to have lots of veins and fissures, due to its formation, however is hard enough to take a polish to its surface (albeit a polish which requires a lot of care and attention in order to keep it that way).
